He’s talking to the executive of the union local about increasing its contribution towards the acquisition of equipment, such as the television set.  He noted that several people had offered video material that may be useful to the project. He also reported that he has been reaching out to members of the target equity seeking groups about their interests and things they would want to talk about and their primary interests are issues that affect them directly. Carl reported that there’s growing anticipation of the project. But he won’t be able to get underway until the electronic equipment is acquired and installed. He said members of the group would be encouraged to become more involved in the union and seek participation in conferences at all levels. He noted that the group could itself could mentor members helping with professional development also mentoring linkages could be made by individual members of the group. Prior to the meeting Carl had sent in a document, that has been shared with the committee and is attached, on his ideas (Appendix i).

Web Page: Randy Gillam reported that Bernie Lunzer is helping her get a URL for the web site. The committee agreed that some good addresses were:

www.tng-equity.org

Randy will talk to designers in her unit about coming up with a logo for the site. The committee agreed that Randy should proceed with the design of the web site including the logo and the URL at her discretion.

Outreach letter: Just before the meeting Sheila Lindsay had forwarded a draft of an outreach document (attached Appendix ii). The main intent is to encourage members of equity seeking groups to become more involved in the union and participate in meetings and conferences at all levels especially the TNG Sector Conference and CWA Convention to be held July 13-14, 2007 in Toronto, Canada. Members of the committee are to review it and get back to her about it.
