MINUTES PREPARED BY MICHAEL D'SOUZA.
The committee started its
meeting on schedule at 1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific. The agenda
for the Human Rights Conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 22,
was the main topic of discussion. The draft agenda is attached.
Sherri Borden Colley informed the committee that she would not be
attending the Las Vegas Conference because of child-care issues.
Yoko told the committee that a presentation by the Minority Caucus
of the CWA was proving to be difficult because of conflicts in
schedules.
Joe reported that he was finalizing details for the reception.
He's also completing arrangements for Liza Gross, the Miami
Herald's managing editor for presentation and operations, to
attend the conference.
The committee discussed Sheila Lindsay's proposal to add a speaker
on Socialism and the Union Movement to the agenda. But Michael
didn't have the note Sheila had sent on the proposal and Sheila
was not at the meeting. So the matter was deferred to the next
meeting.
Next meeting
The committee agreed to meet again on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at
noon Atlantic; 1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific.
Adjournment
The committee adjourned at 1:26 p.m. Eastern, 10:45 a.m. Pacific.
